Tooth Extraction Pain?

Hello, I had a bottom tooth pulled a couple of weeks ago and it was a rough extraction(took the dentist nearly an hour and he had to break it in half first). About a week and a half after the extraction I developed a dry socket with extreme radiating pain. I went to the Dentist and he put gauze on it and gave me antibiotics and pain meds and told me I didn't have to come back. Well I took all the antibiotics and still have pain in the extraction site and the tooth next to it is very sore and I wanted to know if maybe my dry socket hasn't healed right or if it just takes a while and if I should go back to the dentist?
