Psychologist is wierd....?

my girlfriends brothers wife gave everyone in the house a second name. jackson, megan and mina are they're names but megan is barbra now and jackson is eddie and mina the doctor is betty... I thought this was odd so I wanted to ask the yahoo world if they know what this is? some sort of psychologist trick?
