How does jury duty work for cases like Casey Anthony trial?

OK so your told you have to be part of a jury in a case like the Casey Anthony trial like the one all over tv, do these people get paid? how much? does it depend on what your regular job is or is it the same for all of them, and also if the trial lasts like a month or more, are they just in a hotel room the whole time after trial that day like can they have their family come and all that, It seems pretty shitty. or what if there mom gets sick can they leave for a few days, just wondering what sort of rules they have for them.
